Well, another wonderful day in Costa Rica with my honey. Up early to catch hummers while sitting on the balcony sipping coffee. Later this morning I got lucky and spotted a hawk being terrorized by a pair of birds.
Explored the road traveling along ]Arenal Lake, where we found a path not to well taken down to the waters edge. So glad that we ended up with a 4-wheel drive, this is the 2nd time we have needed it. I took a quick dip in the water of the lake, and then started thinking about crocodiles...........needless to say it was a quick dip.
Heading back to the hotel, we stopped at "Toad Hall" for our daily meal, and while there we were lucky enough to see White Necked Jacobin hummingbirds and Montezuma Oropendola! The Montezuma Oropendola are hilarious to watch when they sound off their call. They tilt forward with their heads down and brilliant yellow tails straight up in the air,
Back to the hotel where their dog mascot followed me to our room, proceeded to jump up on one of the beds, and beg for a treat (cookie) she just knew I had in the bag. It's very late here, the latest I've stayed up since we've been here (almost 2 am here, which is almost 4 am at home).
We are headed towards San Jose tomorrow ,and unfortunately on Saturday our time here will end and we will be heading back home. I honestly can't wait to get back to my babies - (cats, dogs, horses and donkey). It's been a wonderful 2 weeks and a great way for Kevin and I to have celebrated our 20th anniversary here. And we can honestly say we have experienced the authentic Costa Rica lifestyle!
I love you Kevin, thank you for a wonderful and memorable 2 weeks. But more than that, thank you for the last 20+ years! Here's to another 20+!!!!
