Day 1 - Welcome to the Jungle - Kevin

Where to begin?  Where did the jungle start?  When did I realize all was lost?  I guess it all started after stepping off the plane at ATL Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the worlds busiest airport.I guess we can call that the urban jungle. Crowds and crowds of people moving in all directions at the same time.Where did they come from and where were the going, I didn't bother to ask because I was guilty as well.

Then we arrived at San Jose with a rental car, a GPS and a full tank of gas heading for the coast. Atlanta didn't prepare us for the Costa Rican driving experience, nothing could prepare us for the CR rules of the road. I use the term rules for mere humor, this was full on combat 101 cars wars. Stephanie drove while I navigated. Stop lights, signs, no passing zones, pedestrians, which do not have the right of way in CR, all were mere obstacles to be scoffed at by the locals. Motorcycles are constantly weaving in out around and in between vehicles at all times, no matter when or where. Semis with trailers driving down sidewalks on the wrong side of the road. No fear they have as they pass a car on a 2 lane highway with on coming trucks, just flash their lights and hammer down. People walk on the edge or in the road. Saw a girl sitting peacefully on the concrete median of a busy 6 lane highway. Bicycles with kids hang off both sides. Oh yeah, great money saver the farther away from the capital the bridges are only one lane. I drove after dark and Stephanie would yell Pedestrian, Bike or Bridge as they came into view, and they were everywhere. And the weirdest part of watching this bizarre show, was that it works. Never saw an accident or even a close call, some we said "What the H### are they doing" but it worked. Even so, I'm sticking with my driving techniques.

Well we are here in our tree house built on the ground in the real and safer jungle now by the sea, I'll explain that tomorrow about the house with pics. We have been up and going for 20 hours now and we are spent.
Sorry no pics from me, I'll do better tomorrow.
Kevin
