Day 1 Costa Rica - Stephanie

Made it to Costa Rica!  After 2 hours of sleep (no one's fault but my own because I stayed up to watch the UL game), we got up at the wee hour of 2:30 a.m. to make it on time for the flight.  Flights were uneventful and safe.  The challenge was driving out of San Jaun, over the mountain, to the coast.  We have never seen anything like this before - it's like the driving laws don't apply here and they do whatever they want, especially the motorcyclists and scooter riders, CRAZY!  I was the driver and decided if you can't beat them, join them.  Poor Kevin!  Anyway, we made it safe and sound.  I love the fruit vendors standing on the sides of the roads and had to stop and get a bag of Mamons, which are evil looking, but soft and delicious.  I did have to ask the vendor how to eat them, and this was asked mainly through gestures as there is a huge language barrier in this part of Costa Rica, there is not a lot of English speaking residents here.

We also had our first "guest" in this very unique house we are staying in - a lizard on the outside the kitchen window. Not the best photo because he took off just as I was taking it, and a monkey is teasing me by giving a little screech outside the upstairs windows periodically, but I can't find him.  Also hearing some type of frog and flying squirrels.

It's been a long day and we have our first private tour with a local guide tomorrow morning.  Can't wait to see what we see!

Until tomorrow, audios!
