I thought I had slept in, but it was only 6 am their time when I "finally" got up. Kevin ran to the store to pick up some food and snacks in the morning while I rummaged through the frig and found a pack of Costa Rica coffee - life is good! I started to edit photos, but kept getting distracted by the bird sounds in the yard. Missed a Hummingbird in the back window at a flower (either a Long Billed Hermit or a Green Billed Hermit) but was able to catch male and female Cherrie's Tanagers, Black Lined Tanager, Great Kisadee, and heard Wrens and several other birds that I hope to figure out what they are!
And, again, DRUM ROLL! A Three Toed Sloth that was only a block away from the house we're staying in! Kevin found it on his way to the local store to try to find a screwdriver he needed to fix his computer and he ran back to me saying "You have the wrong lens on your camera!!!" When asked what lens I needed, he said "A sloth only 6' up a tree". Pop, off came the 600, on went the 300, and away we ran to get photos of the sloth, which was only about 10' up the tree by that time. We photographed it climbing, and they do climb faster than you think, and at one point, the poor baby fell backwards but it's hind "feet" had it tacked to the tree so it didn't fall - thank goodness! Kevin and I both gasped as it fell backwards and then we both sighed with relief when it righted itself and kept going up the tree. I think it was a "teenager" as it was not near as big as the ones we saw yesterday with Abel. And the funny thing is - it was directly across from Abel's house.
After that, back to the house where Kevin fixed his computer, we both edited more photos, and then off to dinner at the same "Soda" we had dinner with Abel the night before. We had intended to have dinner at a different "Soda" that had #1 reviews for this area, but we could not find it. Where it was supposed to be was another place so either it was not as great as it had been reviewed, or the owners opted to leave and hand it over.
However, it was a good night to get a few photos of the locals as most of the "tourists" were gone from the beach. And when I say tourists, they are from San Juan area and come here for the beach - they are not foreigners like Kevin and I.
Ended the night by relaxing and editing more photos, listening to a bird or "something" outside the windows which I will have to eventually investigate with a flashlight to see what it is and attempt to photograph it.
Tomorrow is our Macaw trip, but I can't find the reservation confirmation on my e-mail, so it may be a "whatever" day if I can't find our reservation time.
Oh, I forgot to mention the Bat from yesterday! I believe Abel said it was a Long-Nosed Bat. It was hard to see, but he knew exactly where it was! I'm sure I will recall more things Abel showed us that I forgot to mention. If I do, I will bring them up.
Until Tomorrow! Adios amigos.
